So many women talk about how liberating turning 40 plus can be and how they worry less about what other’s think and focus more on what makes them happy. BUT that isn’t always easy (or the case) and often times, the things we have ignored or pushed down for the first 4 decades of our lives, demand to be felt, seen and dealt with.
This unearthing can often look a lot like coming undone and it’s not by chance. When our sex hormones begin to drop in our late 30’s to early 40’s, one of the first things to take a hit is our mental health. Sex hormones play a key role in cognitive and emotional functioning and when they hit their zone of chaos during perimenopause, watch out world! Women start to experience diminished bandwidth when it comes to the b*llshit, because they quite literally, “just can’t.”
This will happen to us all, fellow women. It’s imminent. And when that time comes (and it’s usually a slow drip) we have a choice to make – are we going to let mid-life cause mayhem? Or are we going to empower ourselves, face it head on and alchemize it into the best years of our lives?
