Happy National Napping Day! – Getting appropriate rest, especially in the era of “I’m just so busy” is incredibly important. Take a minute to check in with yourself about how you define a life well spent – is it about how much you can cram into a day or is it about focusing on how you want to feel and making sure you build in conscious choices and activities that allow you to immerse yourself in those feel good feelings? We have a finite amount of time here in this life and if we spend it being “busy” without paying attention to whether or not we feel good, is it worth it? Probably not.

If you experience guilt when you build in time to rest and relax, I invite you to check in with yourself and dismantle whatever story (lie) you have told yourself about what it means to rest and take care of yourself. If you avoid r&r because your mind won’t stop racing with thoughts when you take time to be in stillness, I invite you to invite in even MORE stillness. The things we resist, persist, the things we avoid most that are good for us are typically what we need more of and a balanced life, mind and spirit all require balance – a balance of both activity and stillness.

Stillness, quiet, rest are ESSENTIAL for growth, they are quite literally where the growth happens.
